Lao govt urges private sector involvement to protect children’s rights
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – The government is encouraging the private sector to pay attention to implementing obligations of the Convention on the Rights of the Child to promote children’s protection.
The issue was discussed at a private sector consultation meeting in Vientiane on Wednesday. Vice President of the Lao Federation of Trade Unions (LFTU), Ms Aly Vongnorbountham, who is also member of the National Commission for the Advancement of Women, Mothers and Children (NCAWMC) and the UNICEF Representative to Laos, Mr Octavian Bivol, along with representatives of the private sector and international organisations attended the meeting.
